Today's Scripture by Jason Hunt *July 31-August 1, 2010*

2 Timothy 2:3-4

Endure suffering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

Soldiers don't get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the officer who enlisted them.

Paul was writing to Timothy from inside Nero's prison having suffered many trials and hardships and nearing the end of his life.

Paul encourages us knowing that in order to navigate through life as soldiers for Jesus we need to keep our eyes fixed on

Him and not allow ourselves to be distracted by the things of this world.

Lord we praise and thank You for the opportunity to serve You. Strengthen us, Father that we will be prepared to endure suffering for Your glory.

In Jesus' Name.
