Today's Scripture *August 9-18, 2010* (now on break until August 19th)
Psalm 127: 2
It is useless for you to work so hard
From early morning until late at night,
Anxiously working for food to eat;
For God gives rest to his loved ones.
This will be my last devotional share until mid August and I wanted to take a look at what God's Word say's about us needing a time of rest.
God is not against human effort. Hard work honors God. But working to the exclusion of rest or to the neglect of family may be a cover-up for an inability to trust God to provide for our needs. We all need adequate rest and times of spiritual refreshment. On the other hand, this verse is not an excuse to be lazy. (Proverbs 18: 9). Be careful to maintain a balance: work while trusting God, and also rest while trusting Him.
Our family will be taking a much needed ten day break from our ministry work online to spend some time resting, and soaking in refreshment from the Lord.
It is a blessing for our family to come into your homes daily with "Today's Scripture". We hope that this time of much needed rest will refresh and renew us as a family so that we may better serve the Lord daily as we continue to share His Word with all of you again.
This has been a long season and as a family we are in much need of God's rest! Our prayer is that this time of rest will renew us, inspire us, and encourage us, bringing peace and rest to our weary bodies and souls.
We look forward to returning to the daily sharing of "Today's Scripture" when we return to you August 19th.
We pray that you too will find rest in our Father's care as we break for the next several days.
Again, it truly is an honor and a blessing to speak God's Truth into your hearts and homes daily. And we look forward to returning to you rested and renewed.
God bless you as you continue to seek His face.
Matthew 11: 28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
