Ashley's Today's Scripture *August 19, 2010*
Exodus 20:12
"Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
Honoring your father and mother is a task that can sometimes be difficult. They might tell you to do something that you really don't want to do, or they might tell you something that is an inconvenience to you. This happens all the time, but the test in that is if you can obey them and honor them. Talking badly to them with attitude and disregard is something that I tend to struggle with sometimes. Most of the time I will think that there is something more important to do then what they told me to do, or I wont agree with them on something and I will argue. When you do obey your mother and father you are obeying the first commandment with a promise you will "live a long" and have a fully blessed life. When we obey and listen to our parents we will learn lessons from them and they will teach you things that they have learnt from experience. Obey, love and honor your parents! It's worth it!
Dear Lord ,
Thank You for this day and for our home and for everything that You have given us ! I pray that You will help everyone to honor their father and mother, and that they will obey them.
