Today's Scripture *August 21-22, 2010*
James 1: 19
Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.
When we talk too much and listen too little, we communicate to others that we think our ideas are much more important than theirs.
James wisely advises us to reverse this process. Put a mental stopwatch on your conversations and keep track of how much you talk and how much you listen. When people talk with you, do they feel that their viewpoints and ideas have value?
Father, help us to mind our conversations.
Lord, provide the Holy Spirit to make us alert on how much we are talking and how much we are listening.
May we communicate to those around us that they, too, have value and that we care about what they have to say.
Thank You for showing us in Scripture how to be a good Christian partner, friend, and student.
In Jesus' Name, Amen..
God bless!
Have a terrific weekend!
