Romans 1: 20
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
When I was in Israel in May of 2006 --I came well prepared with my brand new camera and a plan to take pictures and video footage of everything we saw and everything we did.
I wanted to take those pictures home and show my family and friends everything they missed by not being there with me. (Psalm 50: 2 From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth.)
It wasn't uncommon for tourists to pass their cameras off to complete strangers asking, "Would you mind taking a picture of me here in front of this wall--this landmark, this site?"
In the moment you're so preoccupied with getting the pictures to prove you stood there, than you are about where you are standing!
How often do we miss the beauty that God has to show us because we are too preoccupied with our own agenda? Our own desires, motives, and ambitions?
Stop and take a look around you..what have you been missing? How many sunsets have set without you noticing? How many moments have you missed to stand and watch the midnight sky as a shooting star brightens the night? How many flowers have bloomed and leaves turned colors as you've been busy with this or that?
Stop and ask God what you're missing.
How many things are you missing because you aren't really there in that moment with God?
Don't be so content with just "being there" that you miss the wonders God has to share with you!
Father, thank You for sharing the works of Your Mighty Hand with us.
May we stop and be still as You to calm our hearts, be still our minds, and enjoy the moments we are given in Your presence.
Thank You for Your creation! How we marvel at all that You have made. We rejoice today in the blessings that surround us; even now.
Open our eyes O Lord, that we might see things afresh and anew in You. In the Matchless Name of Jesus, Amen..
