Today's Scripture *September 1, 2010*

2 Samuel 7: 18
Then King David went in and sat before the Lord and prayed,
“Who am I, O Sovereign Lord, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?

The Words that strike me as I meditated on these passages of Scripture-- is David's words, "sat before the Lord and prayed,"!
How often do we just "sit" before the Lord?
How much time do you spend in prayer before God?
In order for us to understand the heart of God and have His desires as our own--we must spend time with Him. Sitting with Him. Talking to Him.
A relationship is not one-sided. You cant make a marriage work if only one of you talks all the time while the other one just sits there waiting for a turn to get a word in. A relationship with God is the same way. We need to spend time with God getting to know Him (Reading His Word reveals His character, His desires, His likes and dislikes, His guidelines, His Laws, rules, passions, gentleness, and what angers Him..).
We also need to spend time sitting before Him in quiet reflection--allowing Him to speak to your spirit through His voice (His Word) and His prompting's (the Holy Spirit).
You cannot have a real, genuine relationship with someone you don't know! So get to know God! Sit before the Lord and pray (talk) to Him. God wants a relationship that goes both ways! Will you just sit before Him today and ask Him to speak to you?  (Psalm 46: 10 “Be still, and know that I am God!...)
We can dialogue with God. In fact; He try's to talk to you every single day! Take the time to listen to His voice and to speak to Him as you would your closest confidant. God is already there just waiting for you to act.

God, we praise You and thank You for Your Words of encouragement to us through Your Scriptures.
May we each take the time to simply sit and listen to Your voice. And may we also take the time to pray to You. To talk to You and spend quality time in Your presence.
Help us to quiet the bustling world around us and just sit in peace in Your glorious presence. In Jesus' Name, Amen..

May the Lord bless you!
In His continued service,
April
