Today's "Marriage" Scripture by Jason Hunt *September 11 & 12, 2010*

Galatians 6:9

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up.

My wonderful wife and I were having a conversation a few days ago in the presence of our daughter and I just wasn't able to communicate what I was trying to say without frustrating both of them...to tears even! I must have sounded like I had rocks between my ears. I realized at that moment how some men hit the wall; when they throw their hands up in defeat and emotionally leave the country; Becoming so discouraged by the differences between men and woman that they just quit talking and trying.

Men; don't do it. We can never give up this fight. Our wives are not the enemy, our children are not the enemy. Our in laws...well...No! Not even the in-laws are the enemy. There is way to much at stake to give up. Stay the coarse, as per Paul's encouragement and better yet, God's character; there is a harvest to reap. Just ask your parents and grandparents. He will honour our perseverance as we wage war against the already defeated enemy.

Don't put your arms up in frustration, put them around your loved ones with a tender embrace. Keep the lines of communication open. Love the differences between men and women. If you need help, seek the council of an experienced couple or your Pastor. God knew what He was doing when He created us so differently. Remember; the goal is to have a conversation in a way that you can have another one tomorrow.

Lord You are the Creator of all things. Give us strength in times of weakness, courage to say what needs to be said, wisdom to listen, humility to say sorry and love to cover it all.
