Today's Scripture *October 8, 2010*
Genesis 1: 28
Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.”
Back in the Garden of Eden, God told Adam and Eve about ownership.
Made in the image of God, we were created to take responsibility, or ownership, for certain tasks, jobs, situations.
Part of taking ownership is knowing what is our job and what isn't.
Those who continually take on duties that aren't theirs will eventually burn out. It takes wisdom to know what we should be doing and what we shouldn't. We can't do everything! Even if we are good at everything! Not everything is our job or our responsibility.
Sometimes when we do a job or take on a task or responsibility that was never meant for us to carry--we not only burn out ourselves--we take from someone who should have done that task, or take that responsibility.
Seek God and make sure you are doing what He has called you to do.
Father, we ask You humbly today to show us what jobs and responsibilities are ours.
And give us the wisdom to know what we are doing that we shouldn't be.
May each choice we make be done so with careful prayer and study of Your Word.
God, we ask for forgiveness for those things that we have done or taken on that were now ours to carry.
May we search and seek out only those things that You have called us into and that You have deemed ours to carry.
In Jesus' Name, Amen..
Have a blessed weekend in Him.
God bless,
April
