Today's Scripture *June 20, 2008*
2 Samuel 6: 21-22
David retorted to Michal, “I was dancing before the Lord, who chose me above your father and all his family! He appointed me as the leader of Israel, the people of the Lord, so I celebrate before the Lord. Yes, and I am willing to look even more foolish than this, even to be humiliated in my own eyes! But those servant girls you mentioned will indeed think I am distinguished!”
Are you willing to look silly in front of others for the Lord's sake?
Are you willing to dance before God in at attitude of worship?
Even at the risk of humiliation?
David was willing to look foolish, undignified, even unworthy of the position of king; all for the sake of the Lord of Lords, King of Kings, Lord of Heaven's Armies! David worshiped God with every fiber of his being.
His worship may have appeared childish and silly--but the only one he was trying to impress was God.
And God accepted David's worship!!
O God, we long to worship You in that same spirit of David!
May we leap, dance, sing, and throw our arms in worship to You!
God, we long only to worship and please You!
Thank You for David's example, God. May we live lives that bring You worship each day!
In Your Name, Amen..
Have a blessed weekend!
