1 Thessalonians 4:18
Therefore encourage each other with these words.
This really does say it all! This says what God wants us to do with our words. The words we are supposed to use are those that are used in the Bible; Words that are encouraging. You could search everywhere in the Bible but you would not find a godly person swearing. Swearing does not encourage or make people feel good. God doesn't want us to curse and swear! God wants godly, encouraging words to flow from our lips to people's ears.
My goal (and so far I am succeeding) is to never swear or curse. You might have sworn before and are saying to yourself, "Boy I wish that I had never sworn or else I could do that to". Well, I will tell you something great--Ok here it is... The Lord forgives people!! We serve a God who gives us second chances! If you pray that you will not swear and you show God how serious you are then every time you feel you're about to swear tell God ; "This mouth is Yours not mine. You use my mouth not me".
So I tell you, speak wisely and think before you speak and act. Lets encourage with godly words!
Dear Lord,
I pray for everyone reading this, that they will give themselves to You and that they will love You and want to speak Your Words and only Your words. I pray for safety with our tongues. We love You and want to obey You Lord and only You.
