Today's Scripture *November 17, 2008*

2 Peter 2: 20-22
And when people escape from the wickedness of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and then get tangled up and enslaved by sin again, they are worse off than before. It would be better if they had never known the way to righteousness than to know it and then reject the command they were given to live a holy life. They prove the truth of this proverb: “A dog returns to its vomit.” And another says, “A washed pig returns to the mud.”

Peter is speaking of people who have learned about Christ and how to be saved but then reject the truth and return to their sin. These people are worse off then before because they have rejected the only way out of sin, the only way of salvation. Like someone sinking in quicksand who refuses to grab the rope thrown to them, the person who turns away from Christ rejects the only means of escape.
Luke 11: 24-26 “When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, searching for rest. But when it finds none, it says, ‘I will return to the person I came from.’ So it returns and finds that its former home is all swept and in order. Then the spirit finds seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they all enter the person and live there. And so that person is worse off than before.”

Father in Heaven, we praise You and give You thanks for Your Word to us.
Thank You for Jesus Christ! Thank You for saving us!
Without You we would be destined to die and endure eternal suffering and separation from You.
With Jesus we have the gift of salvation and eternal life! We thank You for coming into our hearts and calling us Your children.
In Jesus' Name, Amen..

Have a blessed week ahead in His Word,
Love Your Sister in Christ our Lord,
April
