Today's Scripture *December 11, 2008*
Exodus 13: 21-22
The Lord went ahead of them. He guided them during the day with a pillar of cloud, and he provided light at night with a pillar of fire. This allowed them to travel by day or by night. And the Lord did not remove the pillar of cloud or pillar of fire from its place in front of the people.
God gave the Hebrews a pillar of Cloud and a pillar of Fire so they would know day and night that God was with them on their journey to the Promised Land.
What has God given us so that we have the same assurance? The Bible--something the Israelites did not have.
He also has given us the Holy Spirit to remind us of what the Bible says and to guide us each day.
John 14: 26 But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.
Look to God's Word for reassurance of His presence. As the Hebrews looked to the pillars of Cloud and Fire, we can look to God's Word day and night to know He is with us, helping us on our journey.
Thank You God for giving us Your Holy Spirit!
And for Your Word which we have to lead us each day!
We praise You Lord, and give You thanks!
