1 Chronicles 4:10

He was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!” And God granted him his request.

Jabez prayed specifically to be protected from trouble and pain. We live in a fallen world filled with sin, and it's important to ask God to keep us safe from the unavoidable evil that comes our way. But we must also avoid evil motives, desires, and actions that begin within us. Therefore, not only must we seek God's protection from evil, but we must also ask God to guard our thoughts and actions. We can begin to utilize His protection by filling our mind with positive thoughts and attitudes.

Father God, we are clay in Your hands. May we remember to ask for Your protection, guidance, wisdom, and direction each new day.

Please protect us Lord from the evil of this world. And protect our thoughts, desires, and attitudes that we may continue to follow after You all the days of our lives. In Jesus' Name, Amen..
