1 John 2: 1-2
My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.
To people who are feeling guilty and condemned, John offers reassurance. They know they have sinned, and Satan (called "the accuser" Revelation 12:10) is demanding the death penalty.
When you feel this way--don't give up hope--the best Defense Attorney in the universe is pleading your case. Jesus Christ, your Advocate, your Defender, is the Judges Son! He has already suffered your penalty and paid the price in your place. You cannot be tried for a case that is already settled. You can't pay for a debt that is paid in full. United with Christ, you are as safe as He is. Don't be afraid to ask Christ to plead your case--He already won it!
Romans 8: 33-34 Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.
Hebrews 7: 24-25 But because Jesus lives forever, his priesthood lasts forever. Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.
Father, we thank You for what You have already done; What You continue to do; and what You will do forevermore.
You are the Savior of the world. There is no other God but You! You are the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End!
We worship You this day and give You thanks for You are Good! All the time! In Jesus' Name, Amen...
