Today's "Marriage" Scripture by Jason Hunt *March 14, 2009*
Philippians 4:8
Fix your thoughts on what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
I was recently challenged by my daughter when she got into the car and I had the radio set to a secular station. I tried to rationalize it with her (and God ) that there was nothing wrong with it. So I set out to pay particular attention to those days when I listened to worship, and the days I didn't. Well, what a difference. With every sexy song inspiring my heart to beat faster with mind numbing base I was inviting all kinds of wrong. I wasn't praying or listening to God, temptation became much harder and I didn't treat my wife the same.
It is very easy in this media age for husbands (men) to be distracted away from God's presence. With a smorgasbord of choices there are endless fiery darts. Very few of which make any effort to honor God. The T.V., movies and video games are all masked in harmless fun and laughter. The enemy is laughing too. Paul tells us to fix our thoughts, that they won't come off of. If we aren't thinking about things that are worthy of praise than we are inviting the enemy to have his way.
Lord we praise You for Your mercy and grace. Protect us Lord from the attack of the enemy. Strengthen us to protect our eyes and ears from any form of evil. May our thoughts and words bring You glory.
