3 John 1:11
Dear friend, don't let this bad example influence you. Follow only what is good. Remember that those who do good prove that they are God’s children, and those who do evil prove that they do not know God.
When you have children, often you'll remind them to watch who they hang around with. You protect your children from "bad examples" or "bad influences". The same is true for us as Christians. We should surround ourselves with good examples, good influences. We need to be following what is good and true. Our lives should be lived above reproach. People should be able to look at us and witness good fruit from our day to day lives. If we continue to do evil--then we truly have not encountered God and entered into a genuine relationship with Him. We can "prove that...we are God's children" by the way we live our lives and what we allow to influence us (or have influence over us)
Heavenly Father, we love You. We are so grateful to be called Your children.
Help us to live above reproach. May we surround ourselves with people who influence us for You.
May our lives be examples to others of Your grace, Your forgiveness, Your changing power.
In Jesus' Name, Amen..
