Today's "Marriage" Scripture by Jason Hunt *April 4, 2009*
Job 12:10 - For the soul of every living thing is in the hand of God, and the breath of all mankind.
When I was a young boy I used to think my Dad was the toughest man on earth, I had so much faith in his ability to provide for and protect his family. The thought of being homeless, without food or the simpler pleasures of life were non existent.
As a grown man with a family to provide for, I write this with tears in my eyes, ashamed and disappointed that my faith in my Father has failed me. I have been stressed, worried, uptight, angry, nervous and even mean at times over how it is all going to get done and when will it ever end? Needing to know all the answers before I dare take a chance.
We serve a Father, Creator, Protector, and Provider who as Job writes (my paraphrasing) in Job 12: 14 How great is His might? What He destroys can't be rebuilt. When He closes in on a man, there is no escape. He withholds the rain, the earth becomes a desert; He sends the storms, and floods the ground...vs 17 He makes fools of counsellors and judges. He reduces kings to slaves...priests are led away as slaves. He overthrows the mighty. He takes away voices of orators and insight of elders, pours contempt on princes and weakens the strong. Floods the darkness with light, even death. Raises a nation only to destroy it. Takes away the understanding of presidents and kings, leaving them wandering lost and groping without a guiding light. We are at the Fathers mercy and grace. The same mercy, grace and authority He gave Jesus.
1 Corinthians 15:27 For the rule and authority over ALL things has been given to Christ by His Father...
We as men as the old cliche goes; need to 'let go and let God'. Far too often we hinder God's blessings and opportunity to show us His Majesty because we lack the courage to believe. I am beginning to feel like that little boy again who believes his Father rules the world and everything in it. 1 John 4:4 But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. Dear Lord, praise You for being so Big. May we praise You endlessly until the end of time for Your mercy and grace. God give us the courage, strength and fortitude to walk in Your Spirit believing that Your Word is true, that You rule over all things. That the authority of Jesus lives in us according to Your will.
