Today's Scripture *May 4, 2009*
Psalm 52:1
Why do you boast about your crimes, great warrior?
Don't you realize God’s justice continues forever?
This Psalm was written about Doeg the Edomite, who had betrayed Ahimelech and David and then killed God's priests. (1 Samuel 21:7; 22:9-23)
Doeg thought he was a great warrior--even boasting about his deed. In reality, his deed was evil, and offense to God. It is easy to mistake 'accomplishment' for goodness. Just because something is done well, or thoroughly doesn't mean it is good.
For example: someone may be a great gambler or a skillful liar.
Measure all you do by the rule of God's Word, not by how proficiently you do it.
Father, we want to do every good work as unto the Lord.
Help us to seek Your will for our lives. To inscribe Your Word onto our hearts and minds.
We want to serve You with all we are, and all that we will become in You.
In Jesus' Name, Amen..
Have a blessed new week.
Your sister in Him,
April
