Today's Scripture *May 22, 2009*
John 17:18
Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world.
Jesus didn't ask God to take believers out of the world but instead to use them in the world. Because Jesus sends us into the world, we should not try to escape from the world, nor should we avoid all relationships with non-Christians. We are called to be salt and light (Matthew 5: 13-16 “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. ), and we are to do the work that God sent us to do.
Thank You Jesus for using us as tools in the world.
May we be salt and light to the people we interact with daily.
Guide us and guard us, we pray, O Lord.
