Then the devil took him to the holy city, Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple, and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off! For the Scriptures say,
‘He will order his angels to protect you.
And they will hold you up with their hands
So you won't even hurt your foot on a stone.’
” Jesus responded, “The Scriptures also say, ‘You must not test the Lordyour God.’"
God is not our magician in the sky ready to preform on request. In response to Satan's temptations, Jesus said not to put God to a test.
Deuteronomy 6:16 You must not test the Lord your God as you did when you complained at Massah.
You may want to ask God to do something to prove His existence or His love for you. Jesus once taught through a parable that people who don't believe what is written in the Bible won't believe even if someone were to come back from the dead to warn them!
Luke 16:31 “But Abraham said, ‘If they won't listen to Moses and the prophets, they won't listen even if someone rises from the dead.’”
God wants us to live by faith, not by magic. Don't try to manipulate God by asking for signs.
Father, we take You at Your Word! We know You love us! We know Your Word is real & alive! We thank You and praise You for all You are and for all You've done! In Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen..
