Today's "Marriage" Scripture by Jason Hunt *September 26, 2009*
John 8:31-32
Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free"
In U2's concert film Rattle and Hum, Bono introduces U2's version of the Beatles' song "Helter Skelter" by saying "Charles Manson stole this song from the Beatles, and we're stealing it back." I believe the same rings true about how pornographers have stolen sex from Christians with lies and misnomers. Pornographers have done a masterful job of teaching us how objectifying dirty sex can be while at the same time convincing us that what God intended to bring a couple together in unity isn't good enough. It's like coming home from work, eating your wife's offering of supper and then ordering pizza.
Why is it that we can't turn on the T.V. Or go to a movie without first checking the ratings and content? The world feels like it needs to show us men a medically enhanced set of breasts in order to sell an inferior product. They do this because they know some enslaved man is going to be titillated by that vision, go home and desire a release from his poor wife who can't compete even if she was on God's 'that one turned out well' list.
Christians have the operators manual on sex, yet; when was the last time you heard a teaching about sex? When was the last time a leader, brother or sister, came to you and asked 'how's your sex life?'. 'Oh don't talk about that, that's private'. 'If we talk about that people will think different about us'. More lies from the pit!! Why is it that the whole world doesn't know that Christians are the best lovers? Monogamous sex is mind blowing, God glorifying, unifying fun! We don't need to steal sex back from the enemy because it was ours in the first place, but in Jesus' Name we will take it back!
This is the first of a series of 'Today's Marriage Scriptures' I am doing devoted to my favorite subject; sex. In John 8:44 Jesus tells us...When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies. The Bible holds the truth about sex, we all need to know it. As we learn the truth about God's design for 'one flesh' relationship I believe the enemy will lose ground. Our hearts will change and will begin to diminish the enemy's influence over our appetites.

Please help us, strengthen us, equip us with the Truth about marriage. Heal us from the lies we've heard that led us to sin. Thank You for forgiving us for allowing the lies of the enemy to deceive us. Help us take back Your gift to us that all glory and honor will be Yours.
