1 Corinthians 7:3-4
The husband should fulfill his wife’s sexual needs, and the wife should fulfill her husband’s needs. The wife gives authority over her body to her husband, and the husband gives authority over his body to his wife.
I have encountered several couples who complain about the frequency and quality of their sex lives. Very often they are not satisfied with how long it takes to get their spouse "in the mood" or how quickly their night concludes. They can't seem to find a happy medium. Usually one is satisfied and the other is ready for a rubber room.
As one half of a whole, any married person must know what the other half needs, wants and desires. The balance in this short piece of scripture is amazing to me. First we must meet our wife's sexual needs, we can only do that by connecting to her heart and being on the relational all star team. Yet we have authority over each others bodies.
In order to know what our spouses want and desire there must be healthy two way dialogue where man and wife can express themselves. Eventually we become experts in the art of pleasad-a-spouse and the rest is sweet, sweet music.
Lord, thank You for creating us with five senses. Thank You that we are responsible to meet our spouses needs. Give us the strength, perseverance and desire to meet the needs of our beloved's, that we would be creative, romantic and most importantly Father; that we would bring glory and Honor to Your name. In Jesus' name. Amen.
