Today's Scripture *November 2, 2009*

Deuteronomy 2: 14-15
“Thirty-eight years passed from the time we first left Kadesh-barnea until we finally crossed the Zered Brook! By then, all the men old enough to fight in battle had died in the wilderness, as the Lord had vowed would happen.  The Lord struck them down until they had all been eliminated from the community.

Israel did not have to spend 40 years on the way to the Promised Land. God sentenced them to wilderness wanderings because they rejected His love, rebelled against His authority, ignored His commands for right living, and willfully broke their end of the agreement made in Exodus 24: 3-8 Then Moses went down to the people and repeated all the instructions and regulations the Lord had given him. All the people answered with one voice, “We will do everything the Lord has commanded.” Then Moses carefully wrote down all the Lord’s instructions. Early the next morning Moses got up and built an altar at the foot of the mountain. He also set up twelve pillars, one for each of the twelve tribes of Israel. Then he sent some of the young Israelite men to present burnt offerings and to sacrifice bulls as peace offerings to the Lord. Moses drained half the blood from these animals into basins. The other half he splattered against the altar. Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it aloud to the people. Again they all responded, “We will do everything the Lord has commanded. We will obey.” Then Moses took the blood from the basins and splattered it over the people, declaring, “Look, this blood confirms the covenant the Lord has made with you in giving you these instructions.” In short, they disobeyed God.
We often make life's journey more difficult than necessary by disobedience. Accept God's love, lead and follow His commands in the Bible, and make a promise to stick with God whatever your situation. You will find that your life will be less complicated and more rewarding.

God, we thank You and praise You for Your Word to us.
Help us and lead us as we seek to understand all that You have commanded of us.
And Lord, no matter what trial we go through, we dedicate to be faithful to You.
To call upon Your Mighty Name in times of troubles and in times of great joy.
We praise You for Who You are and all that You have and have yet to do.
In the Matchless Name of Jesus Christ, Amen..

Have a blessed week and a terrific start to November!
Bless you,
April
