Today's "Marriage" Scripture *November 7, 2009* by Jason Hunt
Jeremiah 6:17
I set watchmen over you who warned you: "Listen for the sound of the trumpet! It will let you know when trouble comes." But you said, "No! We won't pay any attention!".
God set out to protect the Israelites from enemy attack. He 'set watchman' over them that they would know when trouble was coming. We can choose to enjoy that same offer today. Through knowledge of the Word, accountability with trusted brothers and sisters, the church and submission to the Holy Spirit, we can know when trouble is coming. When the 'little foxes' are attacking. Without such help, like the Israelites, we won't pay any attention and we will follow the evil desires of our flesh (James 1: 14-15 Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death).

We are called to be watchmen and to listen to the watchmen in our lives that we may be protected from the enemy and ourselves.
Lord of all things, praise You for being our Protector. Guide us and direct us Lord by the watchmen in our lives. Please give us the wisdom and reverence to pay attention to Your warnings. In Jesus' name, Amen.
