Today's "Marriage" Scripture by Jason Hunt *November 21, 2009*
Jeremiah 15:18-19
Why then does my suffering continue? Why is my wound so incurable?Your help seems as uncertain as a seasonal brook, like a spring that has gone dry.” This is how the Lord responds: “If you return to Me, I will restore you so you can continue to serve Me. If you speak good words rather than worthless ones, you will be My spokesman.You must influence them; do not let them influence you!

Jeremiah goes too far by telling God He is unreliable, 'uncertain' and unable to cure Jeremiah's wound. Put into today's words sounds a little bit like this; 'this is impossible', 'there's no way', 'not in a million years', 'when pigs fly'...you get the idea. God in His infinite grace gives our head a shake and calls us to attention; 'return to Me, I will restore you...'
Complaining is 'worthless words' to God. In order for us to be a spokesman for Him to our children, wives, friends, family and co-workers we must speak good words. The Lord reminds us that we must be people of influence not under influence. The world is very influential as it appeals to our selfish flesh, how much more influence than that do you need to lead your family?
James 1:2 reminds us; Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. If you find yourself complaining, stop. Repent, pray, go talk to those involved. Battle in the spirit, not in the flesh. Soak yourself in the Word so God can restore you and give you Good Words. Declare victory in His Name and rebuke the enemy with the very Word's of Jesus..'The Scriptures say,...' (Matthew 4:3-11)
Gracious Father in Heaven; thank You for restoring us, thank You for a gentle rebuke, a slight correction or even a big slap upside the head. Let us not complain about Your body, give us the wisdom and courage to seek resolutions that glorify you. Give us the ability, Lord, to influence others that they would know Your Name. Lord, bless us with more influence over our families than that of the world.
