Proverbs 12:26
The godly give good advice to their friends;
The wicked lead them astray. In September I entered into my first year of high school. I knew no one and no one knew me. It wasn't difficult making friends but it was difficult making the right ones. My high school is filled with teens that smoke, do drugs, deal drugs,are sexually active with several partners, and much more. Getting caught in the wrong crowd is quite a big deal and easy to slip into. I wanted to remain outside those "troubled circles" but at the same time I wanted to reach out to the non-Christians and those that had fallen into trouble and need. This definitely isn't easy! I reached out to one particular friend that was troubled and spun many lies and was very manipulative but for some reason I had a hard time realizing that she was influencing me more that I was influencing her. This weekend she stayed over at my house and I came to realize the hard way that she wasn't a good friend and that she was just using me and trying to change my character. I tried giving good advice to this friend but instead she began to lead me astray. We need to be careful who we choose to be our friends. Even when our motives are pure-- It can be dangerous for us. We need to learn to trust the Holy Spirit who will (if we allow Him too) guide us and steer us clear of those who are outside of our reach.
Proverbs 28: 6 Young people who obey the law are wise;Those with wild friends bring shame to their parents
Dear Lord,
Thank You for Your Word and how it penetrates deep into our hearts and how You use it to influence us in so many ways. I pray that we will be a light in the darkness of this world and that You will guide us and protect our ear gates and our eye gates from the danger-traps that the enemy has set up for us.
In Jesus' Name We Pray
Amen
