Today's Scripture *January 27, 2010*

Ruth 1: 22
So Naomi returned from Moab, accompanied by her daughter-in-law Ruth, the young Moabite woman. They arrived in Bethlehem in late spring, at the beginning of the barley harvest.

Bethlehem was about 5 miles southwest of Jerusalem. The town was surrounded by lush fields and olive groves. It's harvests were abundant.
Ruth and Naomi's return to Bethlehem was certainly part of God's plan because in this town David would be born (1 Samuel 16:1 Now the Lord said to Samuel, “You have mourned long enough for Saul. I have rejected him as king of Israel, so fill your flask with olive oil and go to Bethlehem. Find a man named Jesse who lives there, for I have selected one of his sons to be my king.” ), and, as predicted by the prophet Micah (Micah 5:2 But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, are only a small village among all the people of Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel will come from you, One whose origins are from the distant past.), Jesus Christ would also be born there. This move, then, was more than mere coincidence for Ruth and Naomi, it led to the fulfillment of Scripture.
Sometimes we may not know or see why God has us do this; do that; go here; stay away from there; work there; talk to that stranger on the bus; smile as the busy mother in line behind us at the grocery store; move on; stay behind; or stand still! But God has a plan! And His ways are higher then our ways. His understanding is higher then our own. (Isaiah 55: 9 For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.)Trust that all things can and will be used for the glory of God in His timing. ( Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. )

Thank You Jesus! Thank You for Your Word.
We praise You for who You are and for what You've done!
And for what You will do in the future. May we continue to walk by faith and trust solely in You.
In Jesus' Name, Amen..

Be blessed!
