Today's "Marriage' Scripture *January 29, 2010* by Jason Hunt

1 Timothy 4:16

Keep a close watch on how you live and on your teaching. Stay true to what is right for the sake of your own salvation and the salvation of those who hear you.

I heard a great quote once from a very bright individual; "I am not a person under influence, I am a person of influence". As husbands, fathers, business leaders, community figures and church leaders we have opportunity and even responsibility to influence peoples lives. What we say and do is always under the watchful eye of those within our sphere of influence. We can bless them...and we can curse them.

I used to have a bad habit of being negative regarding money. Sir John A. ( Ben Franklin if you're American) and myself have never been too close. In my struggle I have made certain aspects of being related to me difficult...ok...I've been a grump at times...fine...a complete jerk if you really must know. I allowed a few unhealthy teachings and my own fears to dictate my attitude about finance rather than believe God's Word. More than that, I have influenced my family in a negative way. I have since repented and God is restoring my faith, praise the Lord.

Most all of us have been told a lie about something or other. Sex, marriage, God, money, church; all of these things can come with vast misconceptions. Find out the truth for yourself. We must guard our minds from the lies of the world. Like Job stated in Job 31:1 “I made a covenant with my eyes not to look with lust at a young woman. We must protect our eyes!! And our ears. Proverbs 4:23 Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. The things we ingest can build or break our hearts and those under our influence.

Thank You Jesus for paying the price for our past mistakes. Cleanse us Father from the teachings and lies of the enemy that we have listened to and believed. Strengthen us please Lord that we will be an influence for You in our respective arena's.

In Jesus' name. Amen.

If you are currently under the influence of pornography please seek help. Your focus is being drawn away from your wife, away from God and giving the enemy a foothold in your life.
