As a husband and father it is my responsibility, duty, obligation and desire to protect my family. What happens to children when they are unprotected? When those who are supposed to protect them lose self-control?
I know a man who expressed to me recently that he grew up in an unstable home. He didn't know what kind of 'state' his parents would come home in or if the family dynamics would look different tomorrow than they did yesterday. Terrified each weekend his father came home with a case of beer; he grew up deathly afraid of confrontation. Now as a family man himself he has struggled with fear, poor self esteem and lack of confidence.
We are the protector's of our homes. When we lose self-control and open the gates, let down the walls; we and everyone residing within is vulnerable to attack. Are you gripped by addiction? Lose control when tempted? If you are please seek help. Pray. Talk to a trusted friend or go see your pastor. Your family needs your protection, don't allow them to grow up in fear.
God You have have given authority to Jesus over all things in heaven and on earth. Give us the strength and courage to submit our sins to You. Where we have given authority to the enemy, Father, we pray You would take it back as we humble ourselves to Your will. Let us hear Your voice regarding those unconfessed sins. Free us from our bondage,Father God. In Jesus' name. Amen.
