Luke 5:16
But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.
Lately one word that has really been standing out to me is the word "listen". Its not a hard concept to just be silent and listen but it is hard to do. A lot of times when you need to be quiet and still it is hard and you really have to focus. When praying and having your "God time" or your "devotional time" it can be very hard to not get distracted or to realize that you need to do something else, or you want to do something else. How do we expect to hear from God if we are never really listening? Jesus went to the wilderness for prayer, why? Because it was quiet and peaceful, a place where He could be still--quiet and listen. We need to have our places of complete silence so that we can hear God when He is trying to talk to us.
Will you give God time from your busy life? Time where you stop, quiet your spirit, and listen!
Dear Lord ,
Thank You for Your Word, and how it penetrates deep into our hearts. I pray that we will make more time for You and that when we do we wont be distracted, but that we will be completely focused on You. I pray that we will become good listeners to all that You have to say to us.
