We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised (eternal life). Hebrews 6:11, 12
I am come a alight into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. John 12:46
He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. 1 John 2:6
Have you ever studied the Bible starting with one word at a time? I have. It's wonderful the results you get. 'Abide' is a word I never came across before I knew Christ. So, I started to look up words and scriptures that go with them.
Abide is something we do, it is a action word, we abide in Christ; we abide in Him and walk in His ways, for He is the branch and we are the branches. Doesn't that sound wonderful?
As we go through our days, as we abide in Him He abides in us ... we will stand as long as we abide in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot
bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so
neither can you unless you abide in Me.
John 15:4
As the verse above says, we cannot bear fruit unless we abide in Him. God is wonderful in His ways and we, as humans, cannot be what He made us to be unless we live for Him and abide in His ways and love. So, decide upon a word a day, look it up in the Bible (and or your Bible dictionary) and see how our Lord guides you in HIS ways.
